Nei Zi Wai Hong or “Inner Purple and Outer Red”
The characteristic of this type of teapot is that the body is made of purple clay, while the outer edge is coated with red clay slurry, creating a difference in color between the inside and outside.
This practice began around 1978-1984. At that time, due to insufficient mining and refining of red clay, and the Chinese people's particular fondness for red teapots, a method was adopted where fine-grained red clay slurry was applied to the outside of the teapot, or even the inside and outside were coated with red slurry (inner and outer red).
This practice ended in the mid-1980s (around 1984)
Nei Zi Wai Hong pots ceased, making it a specific characteristic of the Green Label era.
